At tonight’s Apple Event, we can be sure of one thing: there will be an announcement around the AirPods. What is less certain is what announcement will take place? While some indiscretions have spoken in recent days about the AirPods 4, it could finally be the second-generation AirPods Max that would be announced (or maybe both?). A rumor from Mark Gurman published last night mentions that Apple will announce the AirPods Max 2 with several new features!
AirPods Max 2 announced tonight?
The much-anticipated Apple event, dubbed “It’s Glowtime,” will be held tonight at 7 p.m. (French time) and according to a new rumor shared by Mark Gurman Bloomberg’s AirPods Max 2 could well be unveiled there. Initially, Gurman believed that this model would not be presented at this occasion, just like the new Apple TV 4K, but recent information suggests that Apple could finally surprise with this new generation of high-end AirPods.
According to Gurman, a sequence of several minutes would be dedicated to the AirPods Max 2 before the presentation of the iPhone 16. This new model, offered in several colors, should bring major improvements in terms of audio quality, with the aim of making the AirPods Max even more efficient for all types of music. Among the expected new features, we are talking about improved active noise reduction. Apple could introduce a “new generation” of this technology, capable of more effectively reducing particularly annoying noises, such as those related to construction or traffic in large cities.
The flagship features of the AirPods Pro 2 could also make their appearance on this new generation of AirPods Max. Options such as conversation detection or adaptive audio are planned, this would allow the user to have an even more immersive experience and connected to their environment. In the process, Apple would remove the frustration of seeing such fantastic features being present on the AirPods Pro 2 at less than €300 and not being on the AirPods Max marketed at a much higher price!
Bye bye Lightning
The AirPods Max 2 is also expected to ditch the Lightning port in favor of a USB-C port, a move that is part of Apple’s push to comply with new European single-connector requirements. As a reminder, according to the European Commission, the move to USB-C is intended to simplify the use of the devices for consumers while reducing electronic waste.
Regarding the design of the AirPods Max 2, it should not undergo any major changes. The new generation of AirPods Max would keep the same dimensions and a weight almost identical to that of the first version, but with new colors on the horizon to satisfy users looking for customization.
So finally, AirPods 4?
But that’s not all: Apple could also use the back-to-school event to unveil new AirPods 4 models. Two models are expected, one of which would feature active noise cancellation, a first for the standard AirPods. If these rumors are confirmed, tonight’s presentation could include not one, but two AirPods-related announcements.
Answer tonight at 7pm to find out if these predictions come true during the “It’s Glowtime” event. We can’t wait, really can’t wait!
