Of the new WF-1000XM5 from Sony little is known. New images of the Japanese brand’s Bluetooth “in-ear” headphones with integrated active noise reduction have surfaced on the networks.
Roland Quandt shared on Twitter the first renderings of the Sony WF-1000XM5, the Japanese brand’s vintage 2023 in-ear headphones. Active noise-canceling earbuds achieved FCC certification in March 2023, and according to the Walkman Blog, there’s every indication that the announcement of their availability is imminent.

In 2023, Sony’s WF-1000XM5 should be slightly smaller, therefore more comfortable, than their predecessors while retaining the design and design of the Sony WF-1000XM4. The high-res shots shared by Roland Quandt on his site give us a better look at this high-end product. Unlike their predecessors, the body of WF-1000XM5 sports glossy surface while the tactile areas remain matte.
The Sony WF-1000XM5 will be adorned with a layer of glossy varnish
Of course, the earphone case also doubles as a charger, with the 1000XM5 being Qi-enabled. Unfortunately, it is to be expected that the autonomy will be identical to that of the 1000XM4. They could thus hold up to 24 hours, as long as you place them in their case from time to time during the day. Indeed, “small wireless earphones can be used for one hour after a short three-minute charging session only”, compared to 5 minutes for the WF-1000XM4. How long will the battery last without the aid of the carrying case or if it is discharged? This still remains an unknown that will have to be determined during a more in-depth test.
Among the other technical specificities of the Sony WF-1000XM5, it should be noted that in total, both headphones weigh no more than 11.8g and that they should carry a still effective active noise cancellation system and PreciseVoice Pickup voice recognition technology. The icing on the cake, these earbuds can be connected to several host devices simultaneously. No information has yet filtered concerning the tariff, but the rumor circulates according to which the announcement should be made before June 9.
