Buying a video game, whether for PC or console, requires a significant financial investment, especially when it comes to a title triple Asince this one does not usually go below 70 euros. As the months go by, the price of these usually goes down quite a bit, making it an excellent time to buy it.
Fortunately, not all games that reach the market are paid, especially multiplayer titles that include in-game purchases to change the player’s appearance and/or weapons, purchases that do not offer us any additional advantage in the game.
In addition, we can also expand our library of PC games by taking advantage of the promotions and offers that stores periodically run.
Where to download free games for PC
If you want to know which platforms you can usually find free games on, we invite you to continue reading.
Steam
If we talk about video games, we have to talk, first of all, about the video game platform oldest and most widely used in the world. We are talking about Steam, a store where most of the games are paid for but which also includes a section where all the games available for free are found.
The Steam section where all the games available for free are located, and the vast majority of which are Free to Play, is available from here.
Epic Games
Epic Games launched its own video game store in 2018 and did so with a promotion that it maintains to this day: giving away one or two games every week. The games that it gives away every week are available through the Store tab, within the Free Games section.
To use Epic Games, it is not necessary to pay any type of subscription, so, once we associate one of these promotions, the title will become part of our library forever and we will be able to play it whenever we want.
itch.io
If you like independent games, you can’t miss the website itch.io, a website where we can find a large number of indie gamesmany of them available for free. The section where all the free games are listed is accessible from here.
Here we will not only find games for PC, but there are also games available that work via web browser, so it is not necessary to download them and even for Android and macOS.
Prime Gaming
If we are Amazon Prime members, every month we have a large number of titles to download for free. While it is true that most of them are indie games or have been on the market for several decades (yes, decades), we can also find more recent titles through redeemable codes through GOG or the Epic Games Store.
If for any reason we stop paying for Prime, all the games we have claimed and associated with our account will continue to be available through the Amazon account we used to pay for Prime.
EA, Battle.net, Ubisoft Connect
In addition to the major video game stores we mentioned above, we cannot fail to mention the launchers of some developers such as EA, Activision and Ubisoft.
While it is true that some of these titles are available in other stores, such as Apex Legends EA (available on Steam and Epic Games), some titles and free game promotions are only available through their launchers.
It never hurts to check out the game developers’ game launchers to see if there are any temporary promotions giving away games. You can download the launchers from EA, Battle.net (Activision) and Ubisoft for free.
