Waze is a ‘social’ GPS navigation app that uses real-time data provided by its users to improve the safety and efficiency of road trips. It features a warning system, which is a real marvel, being one of its most advanced features and can help you prevent an accident and other dangerous situations on the road.
Of course, you won’t know what I’m talking about until you see it with your own eyes, just as it happened to me personally, when I managed to avoid an accident thanks to the Waze warning systems.
How to avoid accidents with Waze
First of all, talking about notifications is talking about a function by and for users, that is, here Waze does not intervene, it only makes available to users a fairly efficient system that allows it to be updated in real time.
In fact, what happened during my trip, is that suddenly the warning appeared that There was an object on the road. After seeing the alert, I was alert, slowed down, and right in the distance that the warning said there was a fairly large object that was in the middle of the road, it looked like a kind of beam that you could see had already had some impacts, and that perfectlyI hated that I would have broken my car if I had hit her. Fortunately, I was able to avoid it, and the app then asked me if the object was still there, so I said yes. So not only was I able to avoid an accident, but I was also able to avoid the accident of other drivers who were alerted by the genuine Waze system.
What struck me most about the alert is how well positioned it wasso I was wondering how Waze had taken into account the location from the record of the warning where the user alerted it. In theory, it had to be further ahead than the place where the obstacle was located. Or that somehow Waze is able to interpret the area based on a sudden change in speed or braking. In any case, it was excellent, and precise. Although Google Maps is opening the fan to also improve its alert systems, it is true that Waze is ahead in this.
Although the warnings are usually activated by default, in case you want to review it or even turn them on or offyou can do it very easily by following these steps:
- Click on the three lines or hamburger at the top left.
- Click on settings.
- Now locate Alerts and Notices.
- In the Alerts section, activate all those that you want Waze to alert you about. Especially ‘Dangers‘.
This way you will have everything you need activated so that nothing surprises you on the road. To tell the truth, I will trust Waze again on my next trip, especially on routes I have never driven on before.
