The Chinese giant Geely continues its conquest of the European market. After launching its Polestar and Lynk&Co brands on the Old Continent, the company has just confirmed the arrival of the Zeekr X, a new 100% electric crossover, for 2024 in Europe.

Geely is not necessarily known to the general public in France, and yet, the Chinese car giant has already begun its conquest of the European market a few years ago, in particular by introducing certain brands such as Polestar and Lynk&CO.

For information, Geely is at the head of a constellation of car manufacturers, including Lynk & Co, Polestar, but also Lotus and Volvo, two brands familiar to the French public. But here we are going to talk about the brand Zeekrwhich in China is positioned more on premium models, in particular with the 001 station wagon and the 009 luxury minivan.

Geely launches its Zeekr brand in Europe with a new electric SUV

And justly, the Zeekr X, the brand’s third model, will be the first to venture onto the European and French market. In short, it will be a 100% electric crossover as confirmed by its dimensions: 4.5 meters long, 1.8 m wide, 1.5 m high and a wheelbase of 2.7 m. We find a visual identity quite close to previous models of Zeekr, with sharp lines, a rather short sculpted front hood, the absence of door handles and accents of glossy black paint on the mirrors, the roof, the bumper rear or the wheel arches.

Synergy obliges with the vehicles of the other manufacturers of the group, this Zeekr X will be based on the same SEA modular platformwhich is already active on the Smart#1 and which should be found on Volvo’s future EX30.

For the moment and apart from the dimensions presented above, Zeekr has not given more details on the technical specificities of the car. Finally if, a single piece of data: the 0 to 100 km/h would be carried out between 3 and 4 seconds.

We will therefore have to wait for the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2023 to learn more about it. However, if the Zeekr X takes over the engine of the Smart#1, buyers could therefore opt for two versions, a 2 wheel drive with 272 hp and a 4 wheel drive around 400 hp. Regarding the availability date, the Zeekr X will make its debut at the end of 2023 in China, before a launch in Europe in 2024 (first in the Scandinavian countries).
