Those looking for a reason to take their Vision Pro out of the box often turn to video games. While the mixed reality headset has a nice little effect the first time, it’s still hard to use on a daily basis for work, for example, due to a few flaws such as being too heavy and an interface that’s not yet fully developed (window management, foveal rendering, pass-through). Regardless, it’s perfect for immersive cinema sessions and games. After discovering titles like I Am Cat or Demeo, here’s Thrasher!
Discover Thrasher on visionOS
To give you some context, Thrasher is a high-octane action-arcade game developed by the artist and composer behind the cult classic Thumper, which won an Apple Design Award.
In this immersive odyssey, you guide a space eel through landscapes that are both stunning and confusing. Using natural hand gestures, you spin, charge, and pulverize your enemies while facing off against formidable bosses in a frantic race for survival.

Thrasher transcends space-time, merging music, visuals and gameplay to create a highly unique experience. Like its predecessor, TRASHER is a visual slap, not to be put in the hands of people with epilepsy for example. The combination of psychedelic graphics and the distressing electro soundtrack aims to transport you to another world, another state. Moreover, this soundtrack was composed by Brian Gibson of the band Lightning Boltfully exploiting spatial audio and haptic feedback for total immersion
In any case, the game tests your skill and mental endurance through high-speed battles against mysterious colossi. You can enhance your eel’s abilities with power-ups, create bursts of rainbow projectiles, and slow down time to navigate through the chaos.
It’s not the prettiest or the most technical, but Thrasher is certainly a great experience on the Vision Pro, proving that the headset’s sensors are accurate enough to do without a controller.
The fact remains that today’s title costs nearly €23 to download. A substantial sum, certainly, but a pittance compared to the €4,000 for the headset itself. Note that Thrasher is also available on the Meta Quest.
