To start enjoying Android 15, we can join the beta, if we have a compatible device, or wait for the public stable version that will be released next October. However, even though it is not yet official, the beta versions give us a preview of what will arrive in the near future.
Android 15 QPR1 is the first quarterly update for the Google Pixel. And as we read on Android Authority, it aims to change the customization section, giving it a more modern interface. This is how it has evolved.
Google gives its Pixels a redesigned interface in the customization settings
The wallpaper customization section is an app exclusive to Google Pixel where, in addition to setting a nice background, we can change other aesthetic elements such as themed icons or shortcuts on the lock screen.
The way to access this tool does not change: We have two ways, by holding down an empty space and tapping on “Wallpaper and style”, or from “Settings > “Wallpaper and style”. Of course, one leaves us in the wallpaper tab and the other in the lock screen tab, although they are part of the same application.
Now yes, The news is coming in this corner of the system for the Android 15 QPR1 update. Detected in Beta 1, the changes affect the user interface, different in some details. The specialized media shares a video that compares both sections with a before and after.
We must consider that this interface still is in developmentis evident in some icons that do not look as they should. However, it allows us to get closer to the final version, knowing what to expect from the redesign of this section. The tabs to switch between customizing the home and lock screen have disappeared.
Instead, you will have to swipe down to the bottom, specifically on the carousel illustrated with the text “Wallpaper and style.” Another of the most important changes is in the lock screen clock customizationnow all the options are displayed at the bottom, you won’t need to swipe between the different aspects of the watch.
Then, the color and size of the watch will be selected in a new bottom sheet, which is presented in separate tabs for clarity. Like these features, the lock screen shortcuts now appear at the bottom, saving you from having to scroll through them all to find the one you prefer.
He accent color picker changes, too: it displays two rows of options in the palette, rather than just one. When you select a style, the preview becomes larger, allowing you to get a better view of how it changes. The same goes for the dark/light mode toggle, offering a magnified view.

When can we expect this redesign? Well, everything points to it arriving in December, when QPR1 becomes the first Pixel Feature Drop of Android 15. It seems difficult for it to be ready before then: the stable Android 15 update proposed for October will not bring any more changes than those seen in recent months.
