A few weeks ago we told you that the next high-end devices could rise considerably in price. Today one of the aforementioned companies is the protagonist. We talk about Google and its next pixel 8. This device, together with the “pro” version, will be presented at the beginning of October, presumably, with a considerable price increase. The leak that gives rise to this news speaks of a rise of 200 euros for the base model. Yeah, 200 euros.
From €649 for the Pixel 7 to €860 for the Pixel 8
The latest leak regarding the high-end Android allows us to know the alleged prices of the Pixel 8 series. This includes the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, two devices that will be presented in just over a month with much higher prices. This is what the current leak tells us:
- Pixel 7: 649 euros
- Pixel 8: 860 euros (filtered)
- Pixel 7 Pro: 899 euros
- Pixel 8 Pro: 1,215 euros (filtered)
All figures refer to the 128 GB base models internal storage. In the rest of the options the figures rise progressively depending on the space: 256 or 512 GB.
A justified price increase?
It is important to emphasize that this is a leak and not official Google figures, so we must be careful when stating details. Still, this rise makes us think about Google’s possible justification, which seems complicated.
In the latest leak about specifications and design it was revealed that Google is not going to make any significant changes. It’s more, the Pixel 8 Pro is practically identical to the Pixel 7 Pro. Unless Google makes a drastic change in the internal characteristics, it seems that this price increase will not have a justification beyond the higher cost of the components.
