A hacker has created a very convincing prototype of a working foldable iPhone which he calls the iPhone V.
This is the iPhone V. It’s a very real foldable smartphone, which has really been created and shown to the public. However, it has nothing to do with Apple. The device is not an official product and is not intended for sale. This is the crazy project of a Chinese videographer who posted a video on the Bilibili platform – a kind of alternative to YouTube.
In the video in question, he shows how he managed to create this impressive prototype running well and truly on iOS.

A long and tedious project that occupied the hacker for a year. It must be said that his iPhone V required a lot of DIY, if only to obtain and install a foldable panel or integrate a hinge effectively.
A very convincing iPhone V overall
This foldable iPhone takes up the clamshell format of a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 or a Motorola Razr. We salute the level of finishes quite bluffing, the videographer has taken a lot of care.
The fan created his iPhone V from scratch. In the lower part, it has integrated the motherboard with the SoC and the memory. On the upper half, he installed the battery and the photo block. From what we see in the video, the prototype works very well, although it should be noted that iOS is obviously not yet adapted to this kind of format.
The layout of the interface and applications is therefore not optimal for a foldable screen. No Flex Mode on the menu in short. Another element to note: the hacker has not integrated an external screen. When his iPhone V is closed, it is unusable.
The foldable smartphone at Apple
Remember that the latest news, Apple would be working on a foldable device, but that the first product concerned would not be an iPhone. The competitor Samsung is also convinced that the apple will enter this market. However, that hasn’t stopped the South Korean giant from tackling its favorite enemy on this subject recently.
