The film therefore traces Donohue’s journey to the front lines, dodging shelling and gunfire with incredible luck. But above all, you have to know that it really happened.
When he arrives, the reactions of the soldiers when they learn the reason for his arrival vary: some are amused, others horrified. Donohue also discovers the horrifying reality of war on the ground.
Alongside Zac Efron, the excellent Russell Crowe plays a war photographer who befriends Donohue, even though they initially disagree over how the media portrays the war. Bill Murray also appears in the film in a supporting role.
