Little by little the company redirects the orientation of its iPad
The arrival on the market of the new iPad Air models and the iPad Pro line with M4 chip refuted some rumors that were circulating online and suggested that Apple was planning to change the orientation of the apple logo. The logo is still in a vertical arrangement, although this could change.
An Apple industrial designer named Molly Anderson has assured that the company could change the orientation of the iPad logo to be horizontal.
The problem is that there will always be a time when the apple logo will be in the wrong orientation, since the iPad is a device that can be used in different positions.
The iPad logo will change position
When the iPad was born in 2010 it was primarily intended for use in portrait orientation. But little by little, over the years, the way of using the iPad changed in a very natural way.
When writing, playing games, on video calls… everything seems much more suitable for using the iPad in a horizontal position. Furthermore, with the arrival of the Magic Keyboard keyboards and the increase in productivity use in landscape orientation became even more common. But when you place the tablet in that position, the layout of the logo is upside down, vertical.
It is not a serious problem, it is rather aesthetic, and reminds us of when the MacBook’s apple logo was upside down until it changed with the launch of the Powerbook G4. Now a member of Apple’s design team has assured that the position of the iPad logo could soon change.
Apple plans to change the orientation of the logo
Molly Anderson, an industrial designer at Apple, has spoken at an interview with Numerama with the aim of telling more curiosities about the ultra-thin design of the 2024 iPad Pro.
After the new iPad Air and iPad Pro models have a front camera arranged horizontally (on the longest side of the iPad), Molly Anderson was asked about the position of the bitten apple logo on the back.
According to the designer, “this could change” in the future and the logo in a vertical position would become horizontal. Molly Anderson indicated that the iPad is a device that can be used in all directions, but Apple knows that users use it more in landscape mode. So the logo in portrait orientation won’t stay that way forever.
It is a necessary change
I personally think The iPad logo should be in the same position as the MacBook logo since many years. But it is also true that the moment you hold an iPad in a vertical position, the logo will once again be in the wrong or inappropriate orientation.
Since some years, When you turn on the iPad, the logo on the login screen automatically appears in the position in which you are using the device. What do you think about this matter? Do you want the logo horizontally or vertically?
