As it turns out, over time, the iPhone 6 entered the list of old Apple products and despite being suspended, it still receives security patches and technical support.
In Apple’s definition, a product is considered vintage when it ceased to be distributed for sale more than 5 years ago and less than 7 years ago. However, the company continues to provide spare parts and repair services for older products.
Interestingly, the iPhone 6 Plus was already considered an old product before the 6 model; this is because Apple continued to sell the 4.7-inch device for longer in some regions after discontinuing the 6 Plus model for good.
The iPhone 6 is vintage.
Both the iPhone 6 and the Plus version hit the market in September 2014 with iOS 8; devices were discontinued until 2019 with the release of iOS 13, which requires model 6s or later.
Even so, Apple continues to provide security patches for devices running iOS 12, which includes not only the iPhone 6 and Plus version, but also the iPhone 5s.
iPhone 6 is equipped with a Retina HD display, a single 8MP rear camera, and the 64-bit A8 chip with 1GB of RAM. For its part, the iPhone 6 Plus has similar hardware, but with a Full HD screen and a rear camera with optical stabilization.
Earlier this year, Apple also added the first-generation MacBook Pro with Touch Bar to its list of legacy products.Do you want to be up to date in the world of technology? Subscribe to our YouTube channel and don’t miss the best in gaming, gadgets and geek culture! Follow us on networks.
