Apple has a secret and doesn’t want to reveal it…
Apple has hidden a secret hardware component inside its next-generation devices. The most curious thing about all this is that during the presentation of its most recent iPad and Mac computers, Apple did not make any mention of this mysterious component. Nobody knows what it is for or what functions it could trigger in the future.
It is possible that the Californian company led by Tim Cook was keeping a secret to present a new artificial intelligence function at WWDC 2024, which will be held on June 10. Or, perhaps it is simply a component that accompanies a function that is already present.
Be that as it may, nowadays it is very difficult to hide a secret inside a technology device. The most indiscreet glances have been responsible for unraveling the ins and outs of the latest iPad and Mac to uncover this mystery and put Apple in check.
They discover a secret component in the new iPad Pro M4 and Mac M3 devices
From The Verge They have found evidence of a new secret component in the hardware of Apple’s latest devices. This hidden component has been discovered in iPad Pro with M4 chip, iPad Air with M2 chip, MacBook Pro with M3 chip and iMac with M3 chip.
The component in question is a Thread radius and, interestingly, it was already available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. In fact, it has also been found in HomePod mini and HomePod 2. And what is Thread? Basically It is the protocol of the Matter standard of home automation products, a technology that recently replaced HomeKit to offer greater compatibility with services from other companies.
Apple has not added the Thread radio to the list of technical specifications for its new devices. We have tried to contact a person in charge to receive explanations about this matter but Apple has not commented on the matter.
What is Thread?
Thread is the primary wireless protocol for the new Matter home automation standard. This is a protocol low energy and low bandwidth specially designed for IoT devices.
Apparently, Thread radio frequencies offer faster speeds than Bluetooth connectivity and a wider range of reach. This is why the Thread radio that Apple has implemented could be very useful for controlling smart light bulbs, thermostats, motion sensors and other home automation products.
Our bet
It is unknown what is the main purpose of the implementation of this mysterious hardware component in the latest generations of Apple devices. Clearly it must be related to a home automation novelty.
Perhaps Apple is planning to turn your iPad or Mac into a home automation control center and this is where one of the latest most interesting rumors about the Apple universe comes into play…
The company is developing a smart screen focused on home automation and a new device that combines the features of a HomePod, an Apple TV and FaceTime. Maybe Thread radio is a form of intercommunication between Apple devices?
