Developers continue to be inspired by ChatGPT!
If you have already tried ChatGPT or any of the applications that benefit from this integration and you are also Mac users, there is more for you. Thanks to a new app called MacGPTThose interested in accessing the responses of the famous chat directly from their device have a new alternative.
Jordi Bruin developed MacGPT, a simple native app for macOS that allows users to easily access ChatGPT from their menu bar. According to the developer, MacGPT loads the ChatGPT chat interface in a web browser.
A new way to use chatGPT on your Mac
From the app’s official site, its creator invites anyone who wants an easy and efficient way to use chatGPT on their Mac to use MacGPT. And recommends “Try it today and see how it can improve your chatGPT experience!”
He also reports that he is working on a more advanced GPT application called Text Wizard that allows you to save commonly used prompts for quick use.
- To start using MacGPT on Mac users need to log in with OpenAI credentials.
- Afterwards, they can start a conversation in ChatGPT by clicking the icon in the menu bar.
- In addition, it is possible to assign a keyboard shortcut to activate MacGPT without using the mouse, simply by clicking the gear icon.
From there you will be able to perform some of the most common queries to the chatbot based on generative intelligence, which allows you to respond to historical facts, current events (until 2021), generate code, give advice and everything that your creativity allows you to request.
Of course, remember that the chat is prone to errors, so in case of taking advantage of your answers also it is advisable to check them.
Regarding the possible errors of this first version, Bruin warns that Due to the restrictions of macOS, it is not possible to use security keys to log in to OpenAI in MacGPT. He also warns if you repeatedly get a message that the site can’t verify if you’re human, you should open settings, uncheck “use custom user agent” and restart the app.
For now MacGPT is freely availablebut Bruin leaves the option for users to collaborate with their work if they wish.
