If two separate elements are a good idea, why not mix them? On the one hand, everyone knows that protecting their head from the sun in summer is important, whether with a hat, a cap or similar. On the other hand, among those essential accessories for mobile phones on vacation is a good battery or power bank. If it is solar-powered and works well, even better. Well, Ecoflow has put everything in a cocktail shaker, shaken it up and a very curious invention has been born: the sun hat.
Goodbye to power banks, I already have my solar hat
I’ll be clear: although it is highly unlikely that I would wear this hat on my head for many reasons, such as its wide-brimmed design that does not fit my style at all, comfort, and the fact that black is not the best color to avoid sunlight (on the other hand, it makes sense as it is also a solar panel), I admit that I love it for its originality.
In its favor and as we can read on the manufacturer’s website, its 370 grams of weight are moderately contained for not be uncomfortable and have dust resistance and IP65 water, a must for when you’re at the beach or just sweating.
This solar hat has this design because it is precisely on its wide and flexible brim where the solar cells are distributed in all directions with the mission of capturing the sun’s rays, made of monocrystalline silicon. According to the brand, it is capable of fully charge a 4,000 mAh mobile battery in approximately 3 – 4 hours.
A curious point is that under the wing there is a kind of flask where its components, the battery, are probably located and it also has two 12W USB-A and USB-C sockets to be able to power the device we need, ideally small gadgets like a cell phone.
This hat is available in two sizes depending on the size of our head and it is also adjustable. Although it is sold in the United States at a RRP of $129 (now on sale for $79), I have not found it on the Ecoflow website in Spain. What a shame.
