Apple’s September keynote for the iPhone 15 wowed us with a fantastic selection of new iOS 17 features. Among them, a Portrait mode feature that allows change focus after capturing photos with the front camera. Well, apparently this function will not only be available on iPhone 15 models.

As discovered by a Twitter user known as @DylanMcD8 Portrait mode focus adjustment will also be available on iPhone 14 Pro models. If you want to try this feature you can do so from the Release Candidate version of iOS 17 that was released a couple of days ago.

The photographic section of the iPhone 15 camera has received many software improvements

While the camera module of the iPhone 15 line has not received major hardware changes Compared to the previous generation of iPhone – with the exception of the 5x digital zoom of the telephoto lens of the iPhone 15 Pro Max – at the software level many functions of great interest have been implemented.

Until now, Portrait mode only offered the ability to adjust the intensity of the background blur, automatically maintaining focus on the subject area. But now, with iOS 17, When editing a Portrait mode photo it will be possible to change the focus point to suit the user.

As this is a functionality powered by the software, it will also be available on iPhone 14 Pro. Please note that iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus feature the same A16 Bionic chip present in the previous generation, with certain performance improvements.

On the other hand, iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus users will also be able to enjoy other functions such as focus and depth control.

The iPhone 14 was presented at the end of 2022

But there are other features of the iPhone 15 series camera that will continue to be exclusive to the latest generation of Apple smartphones, such as the ability to automatically take photos in Portrait mode or increase the resolution with 24 megapixel photos with greater light capture and balance of details.

We are talking, without a doubt, about very good news especially for iPhone 14 Pro users. The new iPhone 15 models will arrive in stores starting the next day September 22 with very reduced prices in Spain and the iOS 17 software update will be available on the day September 18.
