Microsoft’s Cloud storage service will benefit from a major facelift. The new interface of the platform, announced a few months ago by the Redmond firm, is currently being deployed.
The arrival of the new OneDrive is imminent. Microsoft has just formalized the deployment of the new interface of its online storage platform. This overhaul, presented last October by the company, will introduce a more modern interface and above all inaugurate new tools powered by artificial intelligence.
A modern, intuitive and faster interface
Expected for several months, this OneDrive upgrade should change a lot of things without disrupting everyone’s habits. “This is both a visual and functional upgrade,” Microsoft explains on its blog. The Redmond firm’s teams worked on a new interface, which they modernized, in particular by removing the color of the menu bar which had become outdated. Above all, the new OneDrive should prove more intuitive and navigation more fluid.
Among the new functionalities introduced in this upgrade, Microsoft had the brilliant idea of adding a system allowing files to be explored by “people”. Concretely, this new view should allow you to find documents more easily by directly searching for the person who sent it to you rather than the name of the file. This will also, and above all, allow you to filter files based on the people working on them. OneDrive nevertheless retains its For you banner in which your memories, selected by Microsoft algorithms, are displayed.
A new filtering system by file type is also appearing. At the top of the window, a new banner now groups together the different types of files present in the active directory. A click on one of the suggested file types (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, etc.) is enough to display only the corresponding elements.
Furthermore, the New button, which until now allowed you to add a new document or a new directory in OneDrive, incorporates a new function. It also now allows you to upload new files stored on your computer to your online storage space. The new version of the New button is apparently arriving earlier than expected; according to the latest news, it was only planned to be deployed this summer.
Microsoft indicates on its blog that the deployment of this OneDrive upgrade has only just begun. The new interface, which will therefore arrive gradually, will be available to all users by the end of February.
