From the frames, to having a notch at the top. From that notch, we were later able to see a reduction, in the iPhone 14 family. And in the case of the current iPhone 14, the Pro models say goodbye to the Notch to have the Dynamic Island, at the top of the screen. So the logical step would be to see a future iPhone model with nothing but the screen. Well, along the lines of the latter, it is where what Apple would be asking for is located.
Apple’s orders to its suppliers are the key
The English-speaking medium Appleinsider echoes some information collected in the South Korean portal The Elec. In these it is revealed how Apple itself would be “asking its suppliers to develop a version (of the screen) to completely lose the need for bezels«.
That is to say, we are not talking about a screen in which there are no elements that interfere with the visual part, such as a notch or a dynamic island. Rather, the few frames that remain for these devices would be expanded, in order to have a kind of “infinite display”.
And who are those suppliers to which Apple requests the development of these screens? Nothing more and nothing less than Samsung and LG. And according to the news published in Appleinsider, “both companies, Samsung and LG, are said to be working on OLED screens without bezels, at a request by Apple.”
Although this information has been known, the same medium does not give details of which iPhone models (or which generation) will have this new type of screen without bezels. In fact, it would be something rather in the medium term, since Appleinsider explains that “it is not yet clear when Apple would incorporate these screens into its product line, but it will probably take several clicks to establish this design properly.”
The iPhone without a notch, but with bezels is something else
The side bezels of the iPhone screen are somewhat different from the notch that we can currently see on the front. And it is that these are two elements that have different impacts, as far as the electronic components are concerned.
On the one hand, the notch was arranged in this way (originally) to be able to incorporate the front camera and FaceID identification systems, replacing TouchID. On the other hand, the bezels affect the location of other iPhone components, such as the antennas that are located on the sides. In this case, from Appleinsider they explain that Apple “wants a safer space for the antenna at the top.”
Although all this is about rumors, it is still interesting to see how those from Cupertino want to make striking design proposals for their phones. Of course, they are only rumors and for the moment we can only wait to see how all this will materialize.
