This weekend, OnePlus has confirmed that after almost a decade, the OnePlus 10T will be the brand’s first flagship phone without the Alert Slider, considered by most fans as one of their favorite elements.
Since the original OnePlus One, the brand’s smartphones have almost always included this element that was used to switch between sound modes (vibrate, mute and full volume).
As explained in the company, this “alert slider” does not fit the size of the device because it is too big and therefore it was necessary to get rid of it in order to make room for other more important elements such as high-voltage charging or a large-capacity battery.
“Although the alert slider appears to be a very small component, it actually has a relatively large impact on the motherboard area of the device: it occupies 30mm2“, they explain.
And it is that there is talk that two “charge pumps” have been included inside the OnePlus 10T compared to one in the 10 Pro that makes a charge of 80W. It is also rumored that this could sport a higher fast charge of 150W.
“To make sure that the OnePlus 10T offers in the areas that we know our users value the most… keeping the alert slider, we would have had to stack the motherboard of the device, which would have made the device thicker”adds OnePlus lead designer Hope Liu.
This reveal has come alongside a first look at the design of the OnePlus 10T, which has a light green color (and a black version), with aesthetics very similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro, released earlier this year.
The brand has confirmed the launch of the OnePlus 10T for August 3so we will have to wait a few more days to observe the degree of acceptance that this novelty has among the most fanatical of the brand.
