The last experimental function they are testing is related to zoom videos. Although it is true that it will not be a revolution when it is implemented to the general public, it can be useful occasionally to better see a part of the video.
How to test the new YouTube zoom (if you are a ‘Premium’ user)
The first thing we want to tell you is that this is a function that you can test on both android and iphone. Although, yes, you must be subscribed to YouTube Premium for it. As we told you before, it is not an official function yet and it is in testing.
If you meet that single subscription requirement, all you have to do is follow these steps:
- Open the YouTube app on your mobile.
- Click on your photo, in the upper right.
- Locate and click on Your premium benefits.
- Now click on Try new features.
- Scroll down and tap Try the function called “Pinch to enlarge or reduce”.

Once you have done this, you will only have to wait for the function to activate. And it is that, although it already appears as activated, YouTube takes a few minutes to implement it. You can check if it works making the typical gesture of pinching the screen with a video playing in full screen, being able to zoom up to 8 times.
In our tests we must say that, despite being experimental, it works quite well. In fact, this could be an indication that may end up reaching even standard users, but it is not confirmed. It would not be the first time that YouTube has left this function as exclusive to the ‘Premium’ or even reversed its implementation.
