The Android TV redesign that Google announced in 2021 is now availablebecoming widespread among users, after Google said it would arrive a few months later. 31 months later it has been.
Google usually messes with us and a clear example of this is the Android TV operating system. It started as Android TV and then came Google TV, which is actually Android TV but with a different interface. An interface that Android TV later tried to match with a redesign which, finally, is beginning to reach televisions with Android TV.
Android TV a little more like Google TV
Google’s operating system for televisions is Android TV, but It is available in two flavors: Android TV and Google TV. Inside they are the same, but on the outside the Google TV interface is more modern and focuses on content and not so much on applications (unless you activate applications-only mode, of course).
Google has focused on Google TV since it was launched, leaving the basic version, Android TV, aside a bit, beyond launching a new version with each version of Android. Nevertheless, Little by little, Google TV news has been incorporated into Android TVas is the case with the redesign it announced in 2021.

The classic Android TV design (above) and the new one (below)
The redesign has several moving parts, such as the upper eyelashes and the consequent new home page that gives greater prominence to the content, as in Google TV. User profiles, which are also pending, are still available only to some Android TV users.
Two years later, The redesign seems to be going live for all users, They will receive a notice when they turn on the TV. Now, the redesign does not reach everyone equally, since in some countries it comes with the tab Discover (or Discover) and in others not, and in some a banner with featured content is displayed on the home page and in others it is not.
At the time Google commented that would port some Google TV functions to Android TV. It is foreseeable that when the transition is complete and the user profiles reach everyone, Google will abandon the basic Android TV and the new features will only reach Google TV.
