The trailer was released this Tuesday and shows us Isaac Clarke, the protagonist of all three Dead Space games, running through the corridors of the USG Ishimura, a planetary starship.
The game shows our protagonist dismembering and mutilating a variety of zombie creatures, called Necromorphs, with his now classic weapon: the plasma cutter.
If you are new to the Dead Space franchise we can tell you that the plot revolves around Isaac Clarke, an engineer who travels with a small team to help repair the Ishimura after a distress signal.
Nicole, Isaac’s girlfriend, is also stationed on the cracker planet. When Isaac arrives on the ship, he and the crew discover an army of zombified humans, all of whom have been transformed due to a mysterious relic: The Marker.Isaac must use a variety of weapon-like construction tools – a cutter, a flamethrower, a flying buzzsaw – to dismember the zombified crew so they can’t rebuild again.
High expectations in the remake of Dead Space
The Dead Space Remake is a remake of the first game, but EA Motive is taking some creative liberties with the classic title to help modernize it.
For example, the studio recently revealed that the game will feature an adjoining camera shot and never cut out, like in 2018’s God of War game.
The game will also flesh out characters like Nicole and allow players to physically see some characters otherwise only used in audio logs found about Ishimura.
But don’t panic if you are a fan of the original game. EA Motive has been using a community council – a group of die-hard Dead Space fans who have been reviewing development since the beginning – to help ensure the remake stays true to the original.
EA will release the new version of Dead Space on January 27, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
