During the celebration of the D23 Expo that took place at the Anaheim Convention Center, in California, the projects in development that Pixar will focus on in the coming years were announced.
In the event that was held from September 9 to 11, it was revealed that the sequel to Intense-Mind, the story that goes through the emotions of a little girl facing her first years of life. Actress Amy Poehler, who gave the voice of Alegría in the 2015 installment, was present at the convention to share that the sequel is being prepared.
Directed by Kesley Mann, produced by Mark Nielsen and written by Meg LeFauve, the sequel promises to show Riley, its protagonist, experiencing new emotions as a teenager, in addition to those we already know in the first film such as Joy, Fear, Disgust , Fury and Sadness. Although no official release date was given, it is stipulated that the new film will arrive in mid-2024.
In addition to this, there has also been talk of a new sci-fi movie project that follows the story of an 11-year-old boy who becomes an ambassador from Earth after accidentally making contact with outer space.
The animated film will apparently be named after Elio, voiced by Yonas Kibreab as the protagonist, while América Ferreira will play the voice of his mother, Olga, who works on a secret project to decode messages from aliens. The film will be released in the spring of 2024.
Other advances to feature films such as Abracadabra 2, the live action of The Little Mermaid and the following of the 2007 Enchanted film, were screened during the event as a test of what is coming soon. For now, the president of Pixar, Jim Morris, reported that by 2023 priority will be given to new projects and the sequels of some existing films will be completed.
