Yesterday, Remedy released a brand new blog post to announce that Control 2 development is underway. This is the developer’s first time naming Control 2 as such, all previous references to the project having simply referred to it as a “sequel to Control”.
The second installment in the series, previously known as Codename Heron, will be a full sequel to the original game, built on Remedy’s Northlight Engine, as confirmed by Remedy’s official website. It will launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on a date yet to be confirmed.but that probably won’t be announced anytime soon, as the game is still in the design stage.

Control will have the right to a sequel
The third-person shooter occupies the same chilling universe as Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake, whose sequel, Alan Wake 2, will be released soon in 2023. Control 2’s plot could see the protagonist, who will most likely be Jesse Faden (Courtney Hope), fulfilling his responsibilities as director of the FTC. There could be multiple references to older titles developed by the studio, like Alan Wake, Quantum Break, and even Max Payne.
Remedy also announced that it has signed a co-development and co-publishing agreement with 505 Games for the sequel and that Control 2 has a initial development budget of 50 million euros.
In another blog post, Mikael Kasurinen, Game Director of the Control franchise, said, ” With Control, we have ventured into the unknown. We wanted to create something new. Something different and unexpected. A world like no other. Thanks to you, the audience, for making Control such a hit for us. “. He adds ” With Control 2, we are going to take another leap into the unknown. It will be an unexpected journey. It will take some time, but to put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I have ever worked on. We’re just getting started, but the wait is worth it “. So we shouldn’t have any news about the game for quite a while.
