A few months after its launch, the social network Threads, competitor of X (Twitter), would arrive in France very soon. Its parent company Meta has figured out how to comply with European legislation.
Remember last summer (not the movie). At the beginning of July, the Threads application was released. A social network powered by Meta, parent company of Facebook, Instagram or WhatsAppwhose objective is clear: compete with Elon Musk's X (Twitter). It is therefore a microblogging platform on which you can post short messages. At home, those who were waiting to try it are disappointed. Threads is not available in France. That didn't stop us from installing the app and testing the social network for you.
If Mark Zuckerberg made this choice, it is because Europe is very strict in terms of regulations on social networks. It therefore took a little time for the teams to figure out how to release their service while complying with the Digital Services Act, the European Union Digital Services Act. According to information from the Wall Street Journal, it is now done. According to sources close to the matter, Threads is ready to launch in European countriesand you won't have to wait long.
Barring any setbacks, you can try Threads in France in December 2023. No specific date has been communicated. How will the application comply with the DSA though? Well by allowing Internet users touse the social network without creating an account, only to view posts. The other choice will surely be to have a “classic” account, butaccept the collection and use of your data in return.

According to Debra Aho Williamson, independent analyst, the European market would bring Threads around 40 million monthly active users. Last October, Mark Zuckerberg said that his social network had just under 100 million monthly assetsadding that he thought he could reach one billion within a few years. In the meantime, the arrival of Threads in Europe should coincide with the possibility of deleting your account without deleting your Instagram profile at the same time.
