The Matt Johnson-directed film will be released on May 12, 2023 and will be about the rise and fall of the BlackBerry phone in the market.
The movie ‘BlackBerry’ has completed its filming process and will be released very soon in theaters, specifically on the day May 12, 2023. This tragicomedy is inspired by the literary work “Losing the Signal” (Losing the Signal) will offer us an internal vision about the success of BlackBerry mobile phones –because at that time there were no “smart” phones or smartphones– as well as its precipitous decline in the market after the launch of the original Apple iPhone.
One of the most interesting curiosities of this new film Directed by Matt Johnson and written by Matthew Miller is that it will have a stellar appearance by Steve Jobs while he was presenting the first Apple iPhone model in 2007.
‘BlackBerry’ Trailer
IFC Films has recently released the official trailer of ‘BlackBerry’ in which we can see all kinds of funny situations regarding the interactions between the developers and the managers of the BlackBerry company.
In one of the scenes of the trailer (1:48) we can clearly appreciate Steve Jobs with his classic black turtleneck sweater while announced the launch of the original iPhone in 2007.
The movie ‘BlackBerry’ will co-star Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howertonplaying the role of Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie, the founders of BlackBerry.
This new work based on real events will tell us the story about fierce competition in Silicon Valley fighting for supremacy in the mobile phone industry. In the 90s, the two most popular mobile phone brands were Nokia and BlackBerry (blessed nostalgia), the latter taking over at the end of the decade until it had to face the technological –and social– revolution of Apple’s iPhone.
BlackBerry mobile phones also changed the course of history
There is no doubt that the film looks brutal. In a certain way it has reminded us of the biographical drama of ‘The social network directed by David Fincher, to ‘The wolf of Wall Street’ and, of course, the fascinating film Steve Jobs starring Ashton Kutcher. If you consider yourself a big fan of technology, you can’t miss it. Just as we won’t miss it either!
