If you want to know in depth the errors that have occurred on your Mac, today we bring you a tool with which you will be able to find out what has happened and, directly, you will be able to send the reports to Apple for analysis. It can also be very useful, if you want to go to repair your computer and have a guide of what could have happened.
It is a Mac tool that you already have installed
The reports of failures and errors on Mac are used to find out in detail what has happened on our computer, when something has been closed unexpectedly, it is slower than usual, or certain components fail. That is why this tool is very useful if we want to see in detail what has happened. However, keep in mind that, being so detailed, these errors are not easy to interpret if we do not have expert knowledge in computers.
If you are a “walking” user, you can also make use of this tool to find out about the reports, since you can show them to someone from a technical team or service authorized by Apple, and even, in the Apple Store itself, in case it happens. It was a bug that we ourselves can correct from home, or in a few steps, and without getting fully involved in touching settings that we are unaware of. This tool is called Console, and is installed by default on all Macs. This is found within the Other application of the Launchpad, and the main interface (without going into detail about the errors), is very simple. On the one hand, we have the device on which we have opened the console. And then we see a series of categories:
- Bug reports
- spin reports
- log reports
- diagnostic reports
- Mac Analytics Data
- system.log
It is from there when “the chicha” begins and we will see many lines of code. However, within this mess of letters and figures, we have to stay with two important things: the orange label corresponds to errors, while the red label corresponds to serious failures. In the Device tab, we can see everything that has been happening on our computer. Here we will see all kinds of messages, many of them without labels. On the one hand, the errors can be very basic things, like not being able to complete a background process because there was no internet connection at the time. Failures, on the other hand, refer to more internal processes of important components from the computer, such as trying to find a file and the computer not finding it to carry out a task. To see all the reports, click on the Start button.
These error reports can be sent to Apple thanks to the same Start option, which allows us to locate all messages in one place. In this way, we will be able to send all the reports to Apple, so that they can improve these failures in future updates. But also, as we have said before, if you suspect that your computer is not working well because of any of these failures, you can show them to the technical service, to more effectively solve the problems on your Mac.
