Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced the upcoming release of the highly anticipated version 12 of the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. More than a simple update, this new version promises to be quite revolutionary.
In response to an the deployment of the update would begin in just two weeks, around the same time.
Musk said in June that version 12 of Full Self-Driving would no longer carry the “beta” label, but the exact implications of this change remain unclear. Since its launch in late 2020, Tesla’s FSD feature has been characterized as beta software, requiring constant supervision from the driver. The term “beta” served as a buffer against criticism and legal challenges during testing and developmentand removing it could well mean that Tesla is finally confident in the quality of the software.

FSD V12 update promises to be revolutionary
The FSD V12 version, presented in August during a 45-minute livestream, relies on neural networks and cameras to function, the company’s famous “Tesla Vision” system. However, this is not the most anticipated change.
Current V11 update contains over 300,000 lines of C++ codeall written by humans. The new version would be mainly written using artificial intelligenceand is then based on the data collected on Teslas which are already in circulation.
Musk says the software now mimics human drivers, using video data from millions of Teslas around the world as training material. Despite this, the software would not yet be perfect. During a demonstration lasting several tens of minutes in real conditions, Musk had to intervene when his car tried to run a red light. It not remain that the capabilities of this new version look pretty amazingso we can’t wait to learn more about it.
