their iPhones no longer sell

No one is surprised at this point that iPhone sales in Spain do not stand out. Historically, we have been a very “Android” country, either for prices or for other reasons, and this is something that has become clear in the latest figures that we have had access to. Shipments from bitten apple terminals in Spain have plummeted during the last quarter of 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to figures published by canalys in February 2023, smartphone shipments were as follows in Q4 2022. The first position was once again for Xiaomi with a market share of 33% of the units shipped. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the Chinese manufacturer suffers 4%.

The second position is for samsung which is close to Xiaomi with 30% of the shipments made in this period. This figure has been possible because sales have increased by 11% compared to what was harvested in the fourth quarter of 2021. We can say that Xiaomi and Samsung dominate the Spanish smartphone market with an iron fist.

Apple plummets 41%

to find Manzana we have to go down to third position, since it snatches OPPO despite the bump registered in shipments of smartphones. The brand of the bitten apple is left with 12% of the Spanish market, a figure that suffers significantly after registering a year-on-year drop of 41%. It is the brand that has suffered the most decline in sales, although now we will see how this has not had an impact on revenue.

As we have already said, the fourth position in this fourth quarter of 2022 is for OPPO which remains with 11% of the Spanish market. This manufacturer has also seen how its sales fell in Spain by registering 19% fewer units shipped than in the same period of the previous year.

Close the top 5 sellers TCL with 4% of the market and sales growing by 14%. It is surprising that brands like Realme have not been able to take advantage of the pull of their new products to gain a greater foothold in the national market. This has been used by others, such as TCL itself, to sneak into the top five.

The funny thing about all this is that Apple is still number one in value in Spain because the average prices of its terminals are the highest. The basic model of the iPhone 14 is sold for more than 1,000 euros, which has allowed it to record record revenues in Spain. In the presentation of results a few days ago, Tim Cook assured it: “We have reached record revenues in different markets, including Canada, Mexico, Indonesia, Spain, Turkey and Vietnam”.
