Photoshop is the best photo editing and retouching program that we can find on the entire web. Thanks to this software we can create all kinds of images, both photomontages and freehand designs. In addition, Artificial Intelligence has opened the door to a world full of possibilities within this Adobe program. However, the configuration that comes standard in the program is not always the best. And, for this reason, I am going to teach you how to configure it correctly.
When you install Photoshop on your computer, the Adobe program loads a standard configuration. While this isn’t all that bad, it has some minor issues that can make it annoying to use. Luckily, fixing these minor issues and making the program work much better, with fewer warning messages, is very simple.
Remove “Missing Profile” message
In order to prevent photos from opening with incorrect colors, Adobe tries to load an embedded color profile every time you open a document. The problem occurs when the document does not have such a profile. When you open the document, you will find that Adobe displays a message warning you that the color profile is missing, and gives you a number of options to remedy it.
When this message appears over and over again it is really annoying. But at the same time, it is easy to fix. hide missing color profile messagewhat we have to do is go to the Color Settings section of the program, and there look for the “Color management standards” option. Here we will find the options that will allow us to choose what we want Photoshop to do when there are differences with the color profile or, directly, when this profile does not exist.
We uncheck the three boxes, apply the changes, and that’s it. One less problem.
Enable hardware acceleration
Although it is usually enabled by default, Adobe sometimes disables it on computers when installing or updating the program. This option allows Photoshop to use the computer’s graphics card to render images and content. Since the GPU is much more powerful than the processor, the entire program runs much more smoothly.
To activate the option, we simply have to go to the Adobe Photoshop Settings section, and within it choose the “Performance” section. Here we will see the “Graphics processor settings”. We will have to activate the option, and review the advanced settings, to make sure that everything works as it should.
Improve Photoshop performance
Adobe’s design software is very complex. It is packed with programs and functions that gradually use up more resources. Therefore, if you have a relatively old computer, you may have problems, it may run very slowly, or it may even crash.
Within the same section of the previous point we can find several options that will allow us to improve the performance of the program on our PC. Some of them are:
- Adjust RAM usage. We can limit the maximum amount of RAM we want Photoshop to use. This way we can avoid it using up 100% of the resources and causing problems in Windows.
- History states. In other words, the number of changes we can undo. The higher the number, the more changes we can undo, but the more resources the program will spend when we edit.
- Multi-threading. Allows the program to take advantage of the multi-threading capabilities of processors to perform much better.
If we adjust them to values that match the computer’s hardware, we will make the program run much faster. And not only that, but we will even prevent it from crashing and closing, avoiding losing hours of work.
