Anything you connect to electricity will contribute to the total consumption you have each month. But there are certain devices that spend more time on, you have more or directly consume more. Something like that happens with light bulbs, since you can have many scattered throughout the house and you could also have them on for too long. For save energymaking some changes can come in handy.

How to save on the bill with the use of light bulbs

I’m going to tell you what adjustments you can make on your light bulbs. With this you will achieve that the energy cost is lower and you can save money every month. Although each bulb by itself consumes little, the sum of all of them can be significant, even more so if you combine it with other changes you make to other appliances.

Change the type of bulbs

The first thing you can do is change the type of bulbs. Maybe you have old models or even low consumption ones, but the ones that spend less are the ones with LED type. These are the ones you should use in your home. Therefore, a good investment is to change all the light bulbs you have in your home.

Although in the short term it may seem like an expense, the truth is that these bulbs have a much longer useful life. In addition to using less electricity, you will also end up saving money by not having to change them for many years.

rearrange the lights

Another change is position the lights correctly. We are talking mainly about the lamps that you can put in different places. The idea is that they are located in areas where you are really going to take advantage of the light. Avoid putting several very close together and distribute them in various places in a room or living room.

The light you need to read is not the same as to watch television or to eat. Therefore, correctly locate the lights depending on what you need and that will also help you save energy and avoid problems.

adjust brightness

In this case it is an adjustment that you can do if you have smart bulbs. Many models allow you to change the color and even the gloss level. The lower it is, the less you will consume. Therefore, control the brightness of the bulb well and thus you will be able to pay less on your bill.

Once again, having more or less brightness will depend on the activity you do. Perhaps at a given moment you need to have more brightness, more luminosity, while in other cases you don’t need as much. A reading light is not the same as another to simply illuminate a passageway.

Presence sensors

Some models of bulbs with Wi-Fi also have Presence sensors. This helps you save, since the lights will turn off or on depending on whether it detects that someone is entering a room. You can use it in specific places, such as a garage or the front door.

Beyond gaining comfort, you will also avoid having a light bulb on for too long. You will achieve lower consumption if you use them correctly.

As you can see, some small changes that you make with your light bulbs can be very useful in order to save energy. The goal is to pay less on the electricity bill. Having smart bulbs is also a good idea, although you will need to have a good connection and avoid Wi-Fi outages.
