Quality sound and long battery life: the strengths of the Jabra Elite 5
Audio quality is the crux of wireless headphones. Inside the Jabra Elite 5 we find dynamic transducers measuring 6 mm in diameter. These headphones also support several audio codecs: SBC, AAC and aptX. In practice, this model pushes the midrange in detail, which offers good vocal presence and a rather balanced rendering. However, the bass is quite timid and the treble is relatively smooth. The dynamic margin is also rather good, with clearly marked differences in intensity, although this is not sufficiently the case for the soundstage.
With active noise reduction, the Jabra Elite 5 can last up to 6h30 according to our measurements. This is very good autonomy for the headphones, enough for long sessions during a journey for example. As for charging, it is fast: 10 minutes in the case for an hour of listening.
Headphones that also offer good ANC and a complete application
Let’s talk about active noise reduction. First of all, its intensity can be adjusted in the Jabra Sound+ app, available on iOS and Android. Reducing it allows you to extend the autonomy and vice versa. The ANC manages to correctly suppress muffled noises, to highlight the music you are listening to. However, for higher-pitched noises, the Jabra Elite 5s have more difficulty.
The Jabra Sound+ application is very well designed: the instructions are clear and the features useful. It has an equalizer to personalize (via five frequency keys) the audio signature of these Jabra headphones. Also, you can modify the commands that can be activated using the buttons on the headphones.
