Twitter has announced a new feature to write tweets of up to 10,000 characters. What transform the experience of the social network accustomed to micro-reactions.
Another big change for Twitter! The social network has the blue bird unveiled an update for Twitter Write overnight. This name brings together the initiatives of the platform to convince authors, influencers and journalists to write articles directly on the social network.
Twitter Blue subscription required
To do this, Twitter will now allow you to write tweets of up to 10,000 characters and add some formatting with bold and italics.
We’re making improvements to the writing and reading experience on Twitter! Starting today, Twitter now supports Tweets up to 10,000 characters in length, with bold and italic text formatting.

To access this new function, it is necessary to subscribe to Twitter Blue. Some users have started experimenting with such tweets like Jane Manchun Wong. When they are shared, the total length is fortunately not preserved. You have to access the page dedicated to the tweet to read it in full.

However, the tweets currently appear in their entirety inside the timeline, for example, if you are subscribed to Jane Manchun Wong. This makes the Twitter experience disastrous. We will therefore have to wait for a fix for this bug, hoping that Twitter has the necessary employees for this.

It remains to be seen how users will adopt this new function, once the bugs are fixed. For Twitter, this is undoubtedly an accompaniment to its new monetization methods allowing content creators to take over the platform. Here, it’s probably a response to Substack, which just launched a clone of Twitter this week, or Medium.
Another limited tool
For the moment, this new tool set up by Twitter remains limited to writing. The rules remain the same as a classic tweet and therefore you will not be able to integrate several polls, an image and a map representing a link, etc. The thread will still be necessary for this kind of use.
