Summer is often synonymous with mosquitoes in many areas of Spain. In addition to the usual species, due to climate change The presence of species such as the tiger mosquito is becoming more common.which had not been identified in our country until 2004. The presence of this species is especially worrying in some regions of Spain: a few months ago we commented that Valencia was going to release more than a million tiger mosquitoes to control the plague.
No one can deny that mosquitoes are really annoying.especially when they enter the house and we can’t find them. Many people choose to use the usual anti-mosquito plugs to try to scare them away, although it is not an infallible method. Today we are going to talk about Bzigo Iris, a peculiar device that promises to protect us from mosquitoes thanks to AI and a laser system.
The device will send us a notification to our mobile when it detects a mosquito.
As we can see in the promotional video available on the project’s website, Bzigo Iris is a mosquito detector that has a very curious way of working. Once installed, the device is capable of detect, track and tell us where mosquitoes are through a notification sent to our mobile.
The device has software developed for Identify and track mosquitoes in the room. Once a mosquito is detected, Bzigo Iris will aim a laser and send a notification to our mobile phone so that we know where the mosquito is. If there are several, the device will target each of the mosquitoes in turn.
It is possible to install several devices around the house and assign them a distinctive identifying name, so that we know in which room the mosquito has been detected. In addition, We can connect the device to several mobiles so that all members of the household can be aware of the presence of mosquitoes.
Taking the above into account, the idea is that we always have the detector on in the room (or in any other room in the house) so that it is responsible for detecting the presence of mosquitoes, something that can be done even with the light offThis way, every time a mosquito is detected, we will receive a notification on our mobile phone and we will be able to know where it is.
At this point, you’re probably wondering What happens when you detect a mosquito?: Bzigo Iris only alerts us when it detects a mosquito, but it does not kill them. The curious thing about this is that it includes an electric fly swatter so that we can eliminate the mosquito before it bites us.
The device is quite small in size (8.15 x 8.15 x 6.1 cm) and weighs only 300 grams. It requires WiFi to work, as it uses the connection to communicate with our smartphone. The setup is very simple: We just have to download the Bzigo app (available on both iOS and Android) and scan a QR code located on the back of the product to link it to the mobile.
Price and availability
The device is available for purchase through the company’s website, where today we can buy it for $339 (the official price is $400). For now it only ships in the United States, so we’ll have to wait until we see if it extends to the rest of the world.
