There are channels that, given the changes in viewer consumption, have not been able to reinvent themselves and now have to say goodbye to DTT in almost all of Spain in order to save costs. This is just what happened with the channel 7NN. And it is that, recently, we already saw a change in the direction of this channel in order to get out.
The changes that have been taking place over the last few weeks have not only affected workers, since their workforce has been reduced by half due to lack of income. Now, the followers of this channel will not be able to follow it through DTT, at least, in almost all of Spain. More than anything, because it will only keep the license to broadcast in a single autonomous community.
The plummet of 7NN
This channel, which until now had national coverage in DTT in more than 50% of the national territory, it is left out of Digital Terrestrial Television. This television channel will leave DTT in almost the entire country so that they can continue saving costs and, above all, keep the project that began in October 2021 viable.
The main problem is that, less than two years later, it is on the brink of crisis and closure. After a change of mandate, since relatively recently, Martial Cuquerella left his position as director to make way for Fernando Quintelawe could already see how things do not look good at all.
In fact, as we mentioned earlier, in its strategy of being able to save costs, the chain had to decide to dismiss to the middle of his template. And all because of the lack of income at 7NN. The layoffs that were carried out accounted for approximately 45% of the total workforce they had at that time. So, without a doubt, it was a radical change overnight.
Although, now the biggest problem is that the television channel is going to leave the Digital Terrestrial Television space in most of the autonomous communities of Spain, except from Madrid. The chain will only maintain the broadcast license in the Madrid community.
lack of income
All these measures that have been taking place over the last few weeks and days have been carried out with the aim of saving costs on the television channel. Although, at first, the goal of 7NN was to reach 100% of the country through DTT before the summer, to date, it had only reached a little more than 50% of the national territory. However, given the lack of income, they have had to take a course that many did not expect: cuts and more cuts.
Therefore, the first cut of your template, led to the dismissal of some 20 people, among them, the presenter Elena Barberana and the journalists María Durán and Laura Fernández-Cañas, managers of a morning magazine. Although, there are still familiar faces of the chain whose future is not clear, as is the case of Toni Cantó.
