Imagine that you have a website with a recipe that you would like to listen to while you prepare it in the kitchen, without having to read it. How would you do it? There are applications that read aloud the text that is on the screen. And one of the most recent, and most powerful, comes from Google: You can now install it on your mobile.
Reading mode tells you what’s on the screen
Google Reading Mode is added to the accessibility options as soon as the application is installed; It is not for nothing that it is aimed at those who need extra help with their phone. Even so, you can also take advantage of it if you want to hear what is written on the screen instead of reading it. It is often more practical.
With the novelty, just released in the functions that come to Android at Christmas, you can have screen reading in a very simple way. To set Reading Mode on your phone do the following:
- Download the app from Google Play.
- You can access Reading mode from the installed apps and also from “Settings/accessibility“. Either way is valid.
- Open Read Mode and configure the app to add a floating shortcut. This way you will make your mobile read the screen with a press.

- Reading Mode will dictate web pages, documents and other applications aloud to you where the text is majority. It also works in other apps, but not in everything you have installed.
With Reading Mode you do not need any other application for the mobile to read the text on the screen: you can load a website and listen to it while you do other things, for example (and regardless of the browser you use). In those pages loaded with paragraphs it will be very useful.

The app allows you to launch the reading with a click on the floating icon. In addition, you can modify the size and font of the text that is being dictated, it is possible to switch between the different voices, pause the playback and even speed up reading to hear the text on the screen faster.
Reading mode has everything you need to know what your phone says without looking at the screen. It is completely free and has no ads.
