Among the different uses that we can give a Smart TV today, beyond watching TV, either with DTT or through streaming platforms, there is also that of use the tv to listen to the radio or any type of music to podcasts thanks applications like Spotify, Tidal or Apple Music.
The problem of giving this type of use to a television, especially if it is an OLED panel, comes from the fact that we leave a practically static image on the screen that can end up damaging the panel and at the same time generates a glow that can bother us if we want to fall asleep and rest. And this is something and already edited using a striking application that can be downloaded from the App Store.
No glare and no damage to the screen
This is the Blank TV application, an app that is available exclusively for Apple TV and that as its name indicates, its purpose is to darken the TV screen while we listen to music.
It is only necessary that the Apple TV in question is connected to the television through the HDMI-CEC connection and thanks to this application and at the press of a button, the screen goes dark.
This way, you don’t have to do anything else. You can be listening to music or podcasts and then when you activate Blank TV, the screen goes black while the sound continues to be heard without problem.
Then, to turn the screen back on, just press the “Home” button again for all content to reappear as normal.
The app is free and you can download it on Apple TV directly from this link. This happens with Apple TV, but it is not the only case.
Turn off the screen on LG TVs

And it is that LG Smart TVs with webOS also allow a similar operation and also without having to install any applicationonly with the operating system options.
To turn off the screen while a song is playing, just press on “All Settings” and from the options choose “Image” and then access the menu “Energy saving”.

Then you must click on “Screen off” and you will see a message that warns that in 5 seconds the screen will turn off.

The television will continue to be connected and working and therefore, the sound will continue to play even if the screen is off.
