This is how I managed to download applications from the Microsoft Store much faster

With the launch of the Microsoft Store, hand in hand with Windows 8, Microsoft wanted to become a safe option when it comes to installing applications on Windows for users who do not want their computers to be infected by viruses, malware, spyware or any other other types of malicious software. Although it is true that, as the years have gone by, we can find more and more applications, its limitations prevent certain applications from becoming available, so it is always the best option.

Although it is not the best option for highly knowledgeable users, it is for the majority of users who use the computer to perform tasks such as writing, accessing networks, checking email, and even downloading content via torrent, since in In the Microsoft Store we can also find this type of application.

If every time we want to download content from the Microsoft Store, inexplicably this takes a long time to download It is synonymous with something not working well on our PC. The solution to this problem is as simple as clearing the cache of the Microsoft app store.

2 Other options to improve download speed

Clear the cache of the Microsoft Store

Just like in any other operating system, files are susceptible to corruption for any number of reasons. If, in addition, the affected files are related to the Microsoft Store, this is usually the main reason why the Microsoft application store takes forever to download any type of content, be it applications, movies or games.

To empty the Microsoft Store cache and start again with the Microsoft store, as if we had just reinstalled Windows, we must use the WSReset command from the Windows search box. By executing this command, the cache stored in the application will be emptied and, once emptied, it will open ready to search and download the content we want.

Other options to improve download speed

If after resetting the cache, we continue to have problems with the Microsoft Store to download any type of content, we can try one of the solutions that we show you below.

  • Restart the store. If the Microsoft store not only does not download fast, but also works very slowly or has errors, we must restart it completely to eliminate any problem that is affecting its operation. To do so, we open PowerShell with administrator permissions and use the following command.

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command “& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + ‘AppxManifest.xml’ ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}

  • Close background apps. If we have open several applications that work in the background to download content, such as torrent applications, they consume a large amount of bandwidth which do not allow the Microsoft store to download the applications quickly. Applications that do not use the Internet do not need to be closed as they do not affect download speed.
  • Check that it is not a problem with our connection. Sometimes we start looking for a problem on our computer, when we really have to look outside and this problem is an example. To verify that the problem is not in our connection, we can do a speed test and check the download speed through this link.
