I’m clueless. So much so that a few days ago I was desperately looking for my keys until I found them in a pocket of the clothes I was wearing. So it is not at all unusual that my mobile phone is often lost at home and since I carry it silently, it cannot even call me from another phone to find it. One of the star places for it to get lost among the cushions of the sofa and end up in the frame and sometimes it took me hours to find it… until I put this trick into practice: to great evils, great remedies to find my mobile phone lost at home.
The trick in question is as logical as resorting to the iOS search tools (or Android, which there is also) for when we lose our mobile phone or it is stolen on the street, but without leaving the house. That is, Find My Apple iPhone or Google Find My Device. Since I don’t have AirTags or other locators, that’s not an option.
I repeat, although it is true that both tools are designed for cases of theft or loss outdoors where there is a real danger of running out of the terminal and therefore, the information it houses, allowing tasks such as blocking the device, erasing of data, what we are interested in is reproducing sound.
It may seem that the option of ‘Locate the device in real time’, has its point, but it doesn’t work beyond to verify that he is at home: the reality is that although the point points to our house (good), it is not so precise as to be able to offer us its location in a specific room and in a place, for example on the sofa of the hall.
‘Play sound’, the tool to find a mobile at home

So as soon as I find my iPhone isn’t where I thought, I waste no time looking for it beyond glancing over: I open ‘Search my Iphone’ on the iCloud page, I enter my credentials and tap on the green dot of my phone. Of the options that appear, the one I choose is ‘Play sound’ and that’s it: my phone will start playing a sound for five minutes (yes, silent mode too) until I find it and have it in my possession and unlock it.

As mentioned above, we can do the same with an android phone: We agree to find my Google device through the browser of a computer, tablet or phone, we enter our user credentials and there we will see our devices. We select our phone and click on ‘Play sound’, working the same as in iOS, also for five minutes and even with the mobile on silent.
