This past Tuesday, Apple held its September Keynote, in which they presented the new Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro. The event brought many new features to these two product linesfrom titanium to the iPhone to new gestures on the Apple Watch.
The touch to accept with two fingers – that’s what it’s officially called in Spanish – It is a new gesture for the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2. It can be replicated in previous models, but it is thanks to the S9 chip that is much more precise and functional in this year’s smartwatches.
Use Apple Watch without touching it
The gesture consists of just that: accepting using two fingers. The idea is that, in cases where you cannot use your other hand, you can perform an action with the fingers of the hand you’re wearing the Apple Watch on. Specifically, with the index finger and thumb, which when touched will perform an action on the watch.
It does not have a specific function, but, in Apple’s words, controls “the main function of the button in each app”. That is, if an alarm starts to sound, we can deactivate it. If they call us, we will pick up, and if we have the camera application open, we will take a photo.
It is a very useful function for a wide variety of cases and situations. It remains to be seen whether the public ends up adopting this function or not. This editor has been testing something similar, which we explain how to activate in previous models, and is using it more and more. We’ll see in a week.
