One of the most striking announcements of Google I/O has been the new immersive view for routes (Immersive View for routes), which will be available in several cities by the end of the year. It is, to put it briefly, an evolution of Street View that will allow us to “enter” our route and even check the weather along it.

Thanks to artificial intelligence, Street View has managed to unite billions of panoramic images so people can explore the world from anywhere. The next step came last year with Immersive View and now we have a new evolution with the debut of the immersive view for routes.
Like Immersive View, this new feature merges billions of Street View and aerial images to create a high-fidelity digital model that lets you see your full route in advance for more information about the route.
It doesn’t matter that you go walking, cycling or drivingyou’ll be able to access a multi-dimensional experience with a preview of bike lanes, sidewalks, intersections and parking lots along the way.
In addition, you will see information about the air quality and you will check how the route is as the weather changes throughout the day. Even depending on whether it is rush hour or not, artificial intelligence will use historical driving trends to simulate traffic at a given time.
Google has assured that it will begin to implement this feature this summer, and by the end of the year will be available in 15 cities: Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin, Florence, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Paris, Seattle, San Francisco, San Jose, Tokyo and Venice.
