Coolwalk’s redesign has been months in the making and when we were able to test it we saw the media player card, part of the system’s new multitasking, a bit bland. the redesign fill spotify card with color and with a second page so we can adjust the music without switching apps.
Coolwalk, even better
Maybe there’s a good reason why version after version Android Auto updates don’t change anything: Google keeps polishing the Coolwalk interface before activating it for users. With the right tools, it’s always possible to test it ahead of time and see what the current state is.
That’s exactly what the reddit user did mynamesjefffffs, which has shared Spotify’s new media view design in Coolwalk’s multitasking redesign. It is a much more attractive and colorful design than the above design envelope, as you can see in the following screenshot.
The functionality is basically the same: you can see in detail what song you are playing and control your playback without switching apps, although with a more colorful interface and also has two pages. By sliding on the card you access a second page with shortcuts to control the music, still without changing the application.
And what is on this second page of information? Well, the truth is that not too much. In the screenshot we can see a series of recommendations of Spotify playlists, titled “For You”.
The idea is to be able to adjust the music from this card always visible and without having to take your eyes off the mapmuch like how split-screen mode works on widescreens, albeit with a slightly more inspired design.
the redesign still not active for users. Google told us it was coming “in the summer”, so it’s technically late, but we hope it was worth the wait. For now, we can only wait for it to be activated from the server side.
