A space comedy that looks very good is coming out today
The last time I enjoyed a comedy film on Apple TV+ I went with Argylle a couple of weeks ago. Although my partner fell asleep at the end (of course) and it seemed a bit long to me. My goodness, it seemed to go on forever! But I laughed a lot with it and the narrative really caught my attention.
Well, today I’m here to talk to you about another Apple TV+ comedy movie. Specifically, a space comedy that Apple announced in April 2024 and that promises a lot.
‘Fly Me To The Moon’ Not only will it be the most irreverent space comedy of the year, it also has a dream cast and a sublime setting.
‘Fly Me To The Moon’ is released in theaters today
Apple TV+’s new “space” movie It opens today, July 12, in theaters and a little later it will do so on Apple’s streaming platform.
It’s a movie set in the 60s and is inspired by NASA’s Apollo 11 mission. Personally, I’m really looking forward to seeing it because it seems to have a bit of everything: intelligent humor, great costumes, small doses of romance and a story that deserves to be told.
But the best of all is its cast, it stars two of the most highly rated actors in Hollywood, Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansson. But Woody Harrelson and Ray Romano also appear in the film. Fun is guaranteed!
As for its theme, its official trailer makes it clear that This is not your typical comedy. Hollywood fool. The film immerses us in NASA’s attempts in the 1960s to “sell the Moon” to American citizens.
While the character played by Channing Tatum prepares for the mission to the Moon, Scarlett Johansson’s role is to prepare a “plan B” in case everything goes wrong. That is, to fake the landing on the Moon. A montage that Stanley Kubrick could have made in real life, according to an urban legend.
‘Fly Me To The Moon’ tells us a whole new way of telling the story of “one small step for man” or “one giant leap for mankind” depending on how you look at it. Plus, Scarlett Johansson always looks absolutely amazing in her performances… and that 60s look suits her like a glove!
But ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ doesn’t seem like a movie to be taken too seriously. You have to take it with a sense of humor and let yourself be carried away by the irreverence of the interpersonal relationships of its cast. That’s where I think its real magic lies. Especially between the two lead actors. Whether it ends up becoming one of the best Apple TV+ movies is something we’ll have to wait and see.
This is not the only original content based on the space race between the United States and Russia on Apple TV+. If you like the theme, we also recommend watching ‘For All Mankind’, whose narrative offers an alternative reality in which Russia reaches the Moon first.
