And it is that over the years there are certain behaviors and modes of operation that many miss in the operating system. And that is precisely where the so-called PowerToys developed by Microsoft itself come into play. This is a open source toolkit which receives new features from time to time, as is the case now.
In fact, in these very lines we are going to talk about a new feature that is currently in full development and that could be one of the most useful of all the existing ones. Specifically, we are referring to what is currently known as Workspaces. To give us an initial idea, here we are talking about a utility that basically allows us to start and organize several applications with a single mouse click in Windows.
This suite from the software giant that we can download from here, is gradually receiving new tools belonging to multiple sections of Windows. Some more useful than others. Well, right now we are not going to talk about Workspaces, which although it is currently in full development, I am sure many are eagerly awaiting.
This is a module that allows us Launch multiple apps from a single shortcut which we can of course customize. Depending on the type of use we make of our PC, we can create several of these shortcuts to start the applications that interest us at that moment. And not only that, since the utility will allow us to open these programs simultaneously with certain saved settings and thus to obtain the best work experience.
Run many programs with one click from PowerToys
We have already become accustomed to leaks about the PowerToys tools that Microsoft is working on before their final release. This means that the functionality of Workspaces the one we are talking about now will still take a few weeks to reach the stable version of the suite.
Along with how it works, we also know from Microsoft developer Clint Rutkas that Workspaces will be included in PowerToys version 0.84. If we start from the fact that version 0.83.0 is available right now, it’s easy to deduce that we won’t have to wait long.
Demo’ed today in the Windows Developer Chat, PowerToys Workspaces coming in 0.84. (slides called it App Layouts). Create workspaces for each of your workflows and with a single click, get back to being productive with everything back to how you configured it.

As we told you in the new utility it focuses on allowing us to run multiple programs with a single mouse click. At the same time, Workspaces can save designs existing screens, it is compatible with multiple monitors, and we can even specify the size and the position of applications and windows.
All this will open up a wide range of possibilities when working with various applications in the most productive way thanks to PowerToysAt the same time, it is worth knowing that we are talking about a suite that we can use completely free of charge.
