When we access the services offered by the main technology companies, it is necessary to link a personal user account and thus we will have access from any device. This system has been in existence for years in the ecosystems of companies such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, or Facebook, to name just a few examples.
With their pluses and minuses, all of them have some limitations, and in this article we wanted to talk about one that involves the most used operating system: device limitation on Microsoft account. And it is that depending on the number of devices linked to your account, you may not be able to access certain services.
Microsoft and its limit of 10 linked devices
If you exceed the maximum number of devices that you can link to your Microsoft account, you will not be able to access a series of services integrated into the company’s ecosystem. Thus, we would lose access to the Microsoft Store, and therefore, we could not install new applications unless we remove a device. If the only thing we access the Microsoft Store for is to update applications, in this case there would be no problem.
For now, the limit set by Microsoft is 10 devices. If we exceed the limit, we will have to access the Microsoft website to unlink a device and be able to use the Microsoft application store again.
To remove a device from all the ones we already have linked, all we have to do is go to the Microsoft website, and log in with our account. Once there, we go down to where it says ‘Devices’ and select the option ‘See all devices’which is on the right side of the tab.

When we access the page, we can see all the devices that we have linked to our Microsoft account. These will be classified by name, and we can even access the details of each device. To delete a device, we have to click on the one we want to delete, and when the drop-down menu opens, we select the option ‘Remove device’. When doing so, a confirmation message will appear in which we must check the box ‘I’m ready to remove this device’.
As an additional feature, in this tab we can also use the ‘Find my device’ function in case of theft or loss. In addition, we can also register new products, and even see what operating system they use, amount of RAM, serial number and more.
As long as we don’t exceed the 10 device limit, we can use all Microsoft features as normal. Between laptops, Xbox consoles, desktop computers, tablets, and others, no wonder we touch this limit.
