According to a recent publication by Raytheon Technologies, Northrop Grumman and the division Raytheon Missiles & Defense have been selected by the United States Air Force for the development of a new type of missile, under the name of Hypersonic Attack Cruise Missile, whose acronym would be HACM and which would translate Hypersonic Strike Cruise Missile. In addition, the two companies mentioned above will be joined by the Southern Cross Integrated Flight Research Experiment, a US-Australian military technology partnership. By the way, if you are curious about the war sector, you will surely be interested in knowing the devastating consequences of the impact of a meteorite in your city with this web page.
A missile to attack by surprise and with almost no possibility of defense: this is HACM
The missile in question, with that spectacular name, will debut a state-of-the-art technology that includes a supersonic combustion engine, known in English as a scramjet. This type of reactor could reach, in exceptional cases, speeds that would be between Mach 12 and Mach 24although the projection for the missile in question would be around Match 5. In the latter case, we would be talking about the HACM projectile being able to exceed 6,000 kilometers per hour. In a war scenethe superiority of these weapons would be such that they do not existfor now, defense systems able to neutralize them.
We’re excited to announce that we have been selected as a key partner on the team led by @RaytheonDefense to produce the Hypersonic Attack Cruise Missile (HACM)! Learn more: https://t.co/HYo4nulGJT pic.twitter.com/tGSdEOc9cN
