Cybercriminals have developed many mechanisms and tricks to trick users and steal their access credentials. Some users, either through ignorance or carelessness, make it much easier than we might think. Google He has grown tired and now will remove the data of credit cards, passwords and other data confidential in Chrome when share or record screen on a device Android.
You’ve probably heard someone say: “Why would they spy on me or steal from me if I have nothing and I’m not important?” What matters is the data, especially personal data, which can be used to impersonate us.
Many people are finding themselves in serious trouble because third parties have requested loans or cards in their name. Something common if they access your social networks is that scams are shared and whoever receives it falls for it, thinking that it is something legitimate that you are sending them and that is where many problems arise.
Google will delete passwords and personal data in Chrome
Something we can do easily on Android devices is take screenshots, record them or share them. This can be useful, at a given moment, to help a friend or family member with a problem. What happens on many occasions is that information is shared that should not be given.
Because of this, Google has implemented a measure in Chrome that is already in the incognito mode browser, which prevents the capture of private information. This mechanism was not present in the “normal” tabs of the browser. Something that causes that if we record or share the screen, passwords, bank details or other private personal data can be leaked.
To avoid this “leak,” Google is testing a new mechanism that is currently in the experimental phase. It has been called “Redact sensitive content during screen sharing, screen recording, and similar actions.” It’s a bit long, but it simply means not exposing relevant credentials and data.
The description of this function explains:
When enabled, if there are sensitive form fields (such as credit cards, passwords) on the page, all content is removed during screen sharing, screen recording, and similar actions. This feature only works on Android V or higher.
You should know that this option does not work at the moment. Its only mission is disguise the fields of sensitive forms in a Web page that we can fill in fields like passwords, bank details, location and other personal or critical parameters.
Google hasn’t revealed when this feature will be rolled out to all users. We do know that this feature will be available for Chrome Canary soon. This is a test version for developers and beta testers, so they can try out new features and report bugs or crashes.
A very necessary measure nowadays, given the lack of care that users currently take. Many credentials are shared without taking into account the possible consequences. Even the national identity document, where all the user’s data is contained, is shared very happily and it is easy to experience a theft of credentials.
