A few months after its reveal, the new Xpeng Mona M03 is already available for reservation, enough to discover all its features. This electric car wants to seduce with its low price and comfortable autonomy. Here are all the details of this new competitor of the Tesla Model 3.
Having recently arrived in France with its G9 and G6, the Chinese manufacturer Xpeng is continuing its development in its native country. This is how it recently unveiled a brand new model, called the Mona M03.
Already available to order
This is an electric sedan, designed in partnership with DiDi, the equivalent of Uber in China, since the latter is primarily intended for taxi drivers. While its driving position has recently been made official, this newcomer rival of the Tesla Model 3 is preparing to begin its marketing. Indeed, the manufacturer announces on its Weibo page that the latter is finally available for reservation on its official website .
Interested customers can now deposit a deposit of 99 yuan (around 13 euros) to reserve their copy, while the first deliveries are expected by the end of the 3rd quarter. An opportunity to learn more about this new electric car.
We already know that five body colors are available for this new arrival, which measures 4.78 meters long, 1.90 meters wide and 1.45 meters high. The latter displays a Cx (drag coefficient) of 0.194, which makes it one of the most aerodynamic cars on the market.
The standard equipment is generous, including LED lights, a panoramic roof, 18-inch wheels and semi-autonomous driving features, but it could do without a LiDAR sensor, like its big sister, the new Xpeng P7+ which was just presented.
A concentrate of technologies
That’s not all, because the sedan also and above all focuses on comfort, with its 2.82-meter wheelbase. It comes with a 15.6-inch touchscreen powered by a Snapdragon 8155 chip and equipped with 16 GB of memory, regardless of the version.
Customers will also be able to benefit from inductive charging for the smartphone, remote OTA (over the air) updates and onboard WiFi, an AI-powered voice assistant, as well as keyless access and start. Several colors will be available for the upholstery, with light and dark grey, as well as blue. Finally, the trunk has a volume of 621 liters and the opening is electric.
It is also possible to choose from no less than 256 colors for the ambient lighting, while the car is optionally equipped with an audio system with 18 speakers.
The entry-level version has a small 140 kW electric motor or 188 horsepower. The sportier variant reaches 160 kW, or around 215 horsepower. The LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) batteries use Blade technology and are supplied by BYD.
Two configurations are available, namely 51.8 and 62.2 kWh, for respective ranges of 515 and 620 kilometers according to the CLTC cycle. Which would give approximately 440 and 530 kilometers with the WLTP homologation, more realistic. On the other hand, the charging time has not been communicated for the moment by the manufacturer.
For now, the exact price of the new M03 has not yet been revealed by the manufacturer, but the brand had promised an entry ticket below 200,000 yuan during its presentation last July. Which is equivalent to around 25,500 euros.
A very affordable rate, but which will be much higher in Europe if it makes it this far. The reason is notably the increase in customs duties decreed by Brussels at the beginning of July.
Patience: these last secrets, especially the final prices, should be known for the official opening of orders, which should take place in the coming weeks.
