Peter Jackson, the main maker of the universe of The Lord of the rings in the cinema, was not involved by Amazon Prime Video for the making of the rings of power. The director shared the information in a podcast to which he was invited, regarding the upcoming premiere of the series that will explore Middle-earth many years before it was adapted in the film trilogy.
The filmmaker went through the microphones of “Awards Chatter”, a podcast specializing in cinema The Hollywood Reporter. In the space he explained, in relation to Amazon Prime Video and the writer and producer of the rings of powerFran Walsh: “They asked me if I wanted to participate. I said, ‘That’s an impossible question to answer without seeing a script.’ So they told me, ‘As soon as we get the first two scripts, we’ll send them to you.’ And the scripts never appeared“.
Does this represent an open conflict between Amazon Prime Video and Peter Jackson? No. During his participation in the aforementioned podcast, the director commented: “I have no hard feelings about it”. It should be remembered that, as director of the three films of The Lord of the rings, represented a narrative that seemed exclusive to literary work. He built a universe that led to multiple awards and recognition. That is why it is natural to think of him when it comes to the rings of power.
Peter Jackson and the rings of power:
one more viewer
The cinematic universe The Lord of the rings It started with The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), followed with The two Towers (2002) and culminated with The return of the King (2003). The century opened with a fantastic and epic story that reached almost any generation, from children attracted by the adventures of its protagonists to adults fascinated with combat and character development.
To these productions was added the trilogy of The Hobbit, films that did not reach as much relevance as the previous ones. Both sagas were directed by Peter Jackson. Seen from that perspective, it could be suspected that Amazon Prime Video and the filmmaker might have some rapprochement. However, what has already been described happened. With no hard feelings about it, the director added:
“I will see the series. I’m not the kind of person who wishes ill will. Making movies is hard enough. If someone makes a good movie or TV show, it’s something to celebrate. The only thing I look forward to is seeing him as a perfectly neutral viewer.”.
