It’s been a few years since Apple TV+ came onto the market and started with its own productions to create a unique catalogue in the industry. It doesn’t have as many films as MAX, nor as many series as Netflix, but The quality is consistent across its titlesand the little that deviates from this hegemony, does so for the better. Our favorite series make this very clear.
One of the latest TV+ thrillers is ‘Secuestro en el aire’ (Kidnapping in the Air). It’s about a flight to London that is taken over by a group of terrorists without anyone but the passengers finding out. Little by little the authorities are realizing that something is wrong.and from there chaos breaks loose.
A series that will leave you breathless
They say that the best series, like the best books, can be summed up in a single sentence, even if an entire universe is hidden inside. In the case of ‘Hijack’, this rule is fulfilled: a negotiator must try to bring about a peaceful end to the hijacking of a seven-hour flight from Dubai to London. And that’s it.
This series, made up of seven chapters and with a second season officially confirmed, represents an hour of flight in each episode. In fact, They last approximately that long, between 60 minutesAnd it’s been a long time since I’ve been so hooked on a production of this kind. I watched all four episodes that were available when I discovered it in one go, and from then on I waited impatiently every Wednesday for Apple to release a new installment.
Idris Elbawho was once a serious candidate for the legendary 007 role, is Sam, a businessman who uses his wit, intelligence and cunning to save his flight from a catastrophic end. He tries to befriend the hijackers. Let them see you as someone they can trust. His role ends up being decisive as the plot develops.
However, this kidnapping dominates like few others. cliffhanger. Every episode ends with something that makes you want to watch the next one — especially the transition from sixth to seventh, but we’ll let you discover them on your own. The twists are constant and unexpected, and there’s an underlying tension that never quite goes away. After all, there are so many lives at stake.
An ending you’re not prepared for
The ending of ‘Secuestro en el aire’ is absolutely spectacular, and it is not until the last moment that it is revealed how everything will end. And they are still able to keep an ace up their sleeve. This generates a feeling of uncertainty in the viewer that, in a certain way, forces him to keep watching the series because he wants to know how it ends. With each passing minute, everything seems less orderly and less controlled, but it makes more sense. It’s a strange feeling, and until you experience it, you don’t know what it’s like.
With all episodes available and a confirmed continuation, I recommend that you binge-watch it when you have time, and chances are you’ll get hooked. We don’t know if that second season will live up to this one, because I can hardly imagine how they will have Elba trapped again for seven hoursBut if the Apple TV+ scriptwriters have shown anything with ‘Presumed Innocent’ and ‘Criminal History’, it is that they are capable of taking a simple idea much further than could have been initially imagined.
